Social Security Letters

SSA is sending one type of letter--the DECOR letter--to employees for tax year 2007. In prior years, SSA also sent a version of that letter to employers, but not this year. Those letters are specific to an employee (or former employee).

Further, SSA will not send out the other type of letter--the EDCOR letter, which is also know as the "Code V" letter--for tax year 2007 until the litigation challenging the no-match rule is over. See SSA Fact Sheet: "Release of Tax Year 2007 DECOR Letters." Those letters refer to 11 or more employee SSN no-matches.
