FELS Group Legal Services Plan
Farm Employers Labor Service members can get legal assistance from some of California’s leading labor- and employment-law firms under the FELS Group Legal Services Plan. FELS, a California Farm Bureau Federation affiliate, has an agreements with Barsamian & Moody, PC under which the firm will provide agricultural employers who are FELS members with legal help on workplace issues, as well as with John A. Swarbrick Law to furnish investigative services to FELS members.
Farm Employers Labor Service has served agricultural employers with management consulting, information and training materials since 1970. FELS members can tap into the group legal services program wherever they are located in the state.
FELS refers members Group Legal Services Plan providers so they can obtain advice and services quickly and affordably as issues arise. This program offers our members well-recognized expertise in all areas of labor and employment law. Each FELS member is entitled to one free hour of legal consultation annually on labor and employment matters. Additional legal services are provided at a discounted rate that is at least 20 percent less than the firm’s regular fees. John A. Swarbrick Law adds additional legal services to the slate of professionals FELS members may access through FELS’ Group Legal Services Plan. FELS has sought Mr. Swarbrick’s services in response to recent changes in California law requiring investigations into the character, conduct, associations, business dealings and similar inquiries, even those conducted in an employment context to be conducted by either a state-licensed private investigator or an attorney.
Mr. Swarbrick has represented public and private sector organizations in labor relations and employment matters for over 25 years. He now practices as a professional neutral, specializing in workplace investigations involving allegations of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, or other breaches of employer policy.
FELS has sought Mr. Swarbrick’s services in response to recent changes in California law requiring investigations into the character, conduct, associations, business dealings and similar inquiries, even those conducted in an employment context to be conducted by either a state-licensed private investigator or an attorney.
Drawing on extensive experience of employee misconduct and investigation processes, John A. Swarbrick Law will review all relevant documentation, conduct interviews, and provide a thorough and impartial investigation report that meets the employer’s duty to conduct a prompt and adequate investigation that recognizes and respects the rights of all parties to the investigation.
Originally from the United Kingdom, he is an admitted attorney in California, as well as a barrister of Gray’s Inn and a Solicitor Advocate in England and Wales. He has an LL.M in Dispute Resolution from the Strauss Institute for Dispute Resolution at the Pepperdine University School of Law and a second LL.M in International Business Law from the University of Manchester. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and teaches within CSU Dominguez Hill’s nationally ranked program in Negotiation, Conflict Resolution, and Peacebuilding, where he also serves on the Board of Advisors.Mr. Swarbrick has represented public and private sector organizations in labor relations and employment matters for over 25 years.
