Labor Commissioner Cites L.A. Restaurant More than $680K for Wage Theft Violations
The California Labor Commissioner’s Office announced it has cited “wide-spread” wage theft violations at J BBQ, a Koreatown restaurant, with penalties exceeding $680,000. The Bureau of Field Enforcement (BOFE) found the restaurant operators failed to pay employees all wages, owed, denied meal and rest periods, and provided inaccurate or incomplete wage statements. Some employees were required to work split shifts without receiving split-shift premium pay. Forty-eight workers were impacted. You can read DIR’s press release on this enforcement action here.
